A native of South Korea, Seongkyung Son began music studies at the age of Seven and attended Jeon-Ju Fine Art High School majoring in Music composition. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Composition from Chonbuk National University in South Korea. She continued her secondary education in New York and received her Bachelor of Music in piano performance from Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College, where she was the recipient of the Asian-American Scholarships. 
 
She has various experiences in musical field. She studied Gayageum, a Korean traditional stringed instrument and had many performances from an early age. In 2005, she also received the prize in the Gayageum Byeongchang in South Korea. Later, She received the Certification of Piano Adventures PA 2 (Piano) in South Korea. She was the first prize winner of Chonbuk National University composition competition in South Korea. In 2022, she was one of the winners of Bach Competition at Aaron Copland school of Music. She was awarded Departmental High Honors, Adele Lerner Chamber Music Award, Martha Feldman Piano Scholarship Award, and Discimus ut Serviamus Awards from Queens College. She teaches many students from young children to adults. As an accompanist, she works with the Village voice from 2018 and Christian Youth Choir at NY Christian Performing Arts Foundation. She became the faculty of Pace Music Institute in 2022.
